Motivational Award-Winning Author Visit

Years 7 and 8 were visited from motivational award-winning author Tamsin Winter at the start of the summer term. Tamsin spoke about her journey on becoming an author, the inspiration behind her books, and how real-life issues including bullying, body image and social media usage feature in her stories.

Her message to never give up on your dreams inspired Oakgrove students, as she told them about her earliest attempts at writing and how many books she had given up on before finally managing to finish one, which then went on to be published. The effort that goes into a finished book was highlighted by the nine draft versions she piled up.

After a busy book signing, Tamsin went on to do a writing workshop with a group of students, helping them develop their settings and descriptions with lots of tips and strategies.
